Chester
Historic City of Chester - Rightly considered one of England's best preserved cities, Chester still possesses much of its Roman walls and The Rows which were probably the world's first shopping mall. For centuries the city's famous black and white buildings and surrounding countryside have attracted visitors in their thousands.
OPTIONAL EXCURSION - £12
Bridgemere Show Gardens & Nantwich
50 years ago, this centre opened as a rose nursery. Today, it is Britain's largest centre, selling a huge range of top-quality plants and gardening products. Come and explore the six acres of award-winning show gardens, then choose everything you need to transform your own garden. Great shopping facilities, wildlife trails and play areas.
On the return journey a stop will be made in Nantwich- a medieval market town with a modern edge. Situated on the banks of the River Weaver, Nantwich is famous for the medieval timbered buildings dotted around the town. Stroll through the atmospheric streets and visit for bijoux boutiques, antiques dealers and contemporary craft shops. Continuing onto Market Drayton a traditional Shropshire market town with origins dating back to before the Domesday book. Modern buildings in the town centre mix with fine examples of 17th century black and white constructions. The town claims to be “home of the gingerbread”, which has been produced in the town for over 200 years.
